Zooplankton Cuddle Puddle-2021, Grace Jackson
ABOUT MEWelcome, I'm Grace.I'm currently a Master's student in Dr. Charlie Loewen's ecology lab. I am studying phytoplankton communities in lakes and ponds across Iowa.
I graduated in May 2023, Magna Cum Laude from the University of Dayton majoring in Biology with a minor in Sustainability, Energy and the Environment. I was employed in Dr. Prather's Insect Ecology lab at UD. You can read about the lab's work here. In spring of '22 I spent a semester at Chaminade University in Honolulu. I volunteered at Waikīkī Aquarium and took an amazing "Advanced Marine Environmental Science" class taught by Dr. Lupita Ruiz-Jones. In the summer of '21, I finished an NSF REU under Haskin Shellfish Research Laboratory's Dr. David Bushek. My primary career goal is to be able to find solutions to issues regarding loss of marine and freshwater habitat. I picture myself 10 years from now continuing to research aquatic ecosystems in order to combat the negative effects of climate change. |

While scientific observation is central to my professional goals, observation of the natural world through the use of visual art is also a passion of mine.
